From March 16 to May 31, 2020, we will host a retrospective exhibition of the 40-year career of glass artist Robert Pierini, founder of the family business. The opening will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020.
The year 2020 is a very important year for the PIERINI family. It is the 40th anniversary that this family had established in this old olive oil mill dating from the 15th century, in Biot, in the French Riviera. This unique place was spotted by the wife of Robert PIERINI, Mrs. Francine BEGOU, who sees this historic building as the ideal place to create the workshop of her husband, and portray his work.
In 1980, Robert Pierini and his wife Francine renovate the mill and creating the workshop. This year marks the starting point of the artistic career of this glassblower like no other, of great shyness and huge generosity.
When France asks him to represent his art in Japan, he returned from this trip full of inspiration. This is when he began creating his works with a Japanese influence. For 40 years, he created revolutionary glass works: « cord foot », « bamboo bottle », Cretan form and forms with sulphides. It will evolve later in his newer works, More Blowing, Little Color, while maintaining his recognizabe signature.
This exhibition, retrospective of his 40 years of career, is a way for his son and his daughter-in-law Antoine PIERINI and his wife Gaelle, to pay homage to Robert and Francine. Thanks to whom, they were able to make this magnificent place into the first art center of glass within the Côte d’Azur.
From March 16 to May 31, 2020, this exhibition will present 40 exceptional works, representing the 40-year career of the artist. We will have the opportunity to discover the evolution of his work, his different signatures, the latest sculptures he worked on (all are for sale). These 40 works will then travel to other art galleries in France and Europe.
